Kendall's gearing up for cheerleading tryouts. Hayden made a 1 on his district solo and a 1 on his district ensemble at contest. Kendall made a 2 on her district solo at contest. Monty's running the Cowtown 1/2 Marathon on Sunday. Janet has her DKG annual luncheon this Saturday. We made reservations to tour around the Hill Country of Texas for Spring Break this March. Planning on Cozumel this summer with the family. (Excited) Work keeps Janet and I hopping. (Janet more than me!) Hayden finished his Personal Management merit badge, only one more left for his Eagle! And as always, there's much, much more.... |

I guess it's been a while since my last post. This past weekend I competed in my first 1/2 marathon and posted a time of 1:44.38 which I can sure live with! The weather wasn't great with the North wind blowing 15 mph and gust up to 30 mph but the day was still good. Janet, Kendall, and Ross went with me to cheer me on. I told them my plan, a 2 hour race, hopefully a little under. So they weren't ready for me at the finish. Something about hiding in the warm truck drinking Startbucks.
I have four weeks until my next 1/2 marathon, the Cowtown in Fort Worth. And then it's all triathlon after that! Speaking of, check out my new ride. A 2011 Cannondale Slice 5!

We had a great time camping five days at Buescher State Park just outside of Bastrop, Texas over Thanksgiving weekend. Many family (Helmcamp) members we haven't seem in a long time showed up, which lead to a very diverse Thanksgiving dinner. Which made it all the better! |

Kendall and her Cheerleader girl friends got to cheer during the TCU game at half time on Saturday. Janet, Hayden, and Ross went to cheer her on! I received a text from Janet during the game, "I have a new definition of insanity!!". Haha! Maybe her first college game? At least her first Texas college game!
Today was a nice day at FUMC with Thanksgiving dinner and an auction fund raiser afterwards. Watched a little football, then back to plant for a night of work, yippee. I need some time off to get ready for our up coming camping trip near Austin.
Have a nice Thanksgiving!
P.S. One other note. I'm on week three of a twelve week loading schedule to run my first 1/2 marathon on January 28, 2012. Also, building endurance swimming and biking to prepare for a Triathlon in April, but plenty of time for that! |

The Golden Pride band didn't preform as well as they had hoped in Area this last weekend and came up a little short of their goal. What a great good of kids and leaders in that group! And another great marching season is coming to a close with the last football game this Friday night. |

Janet and I went on our first cruise last weekend with some good friends to celebrate their 25th anniversary. A hurricane settled over Cozumel so Carnival thought it best to redirect to Pregreso. We hiked Myan ruins and spent time on the beach. It was fun but not snorkeling in Cozumel kind of fun! Not sure if we'll ever go on anther cruise or not but swimming in the blue waters of the Carribean sure has us thinking! |

I competed in my first triathlon on Saturday 10/22/2011. The TRY-athlon Sprint was sponsored by Cleburne Fitness Center. It began with a 300 yard swim, 12 mile ride, and ended with a 3.5 mile run. Monty finished in 1:15:40, not bad for a first Tri! Now I'm in the market for a road bike! This Trek hybrid just won't cut it! And as much fun as I had, there will be more to come. |
